BANGKOKluckcalicoph, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 600 government officials, experts, representatives of companies and associations from 24 countries and regions gathered here from Monday to Wednesday to share their views and actions on achieving high-quality development in recycling metals at an industry conferenceluckcalicoph.
Hosted by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) and organized by the association's recycling metal branch along with other organizations, the 2024 ASEAN Recycling Metals International Conference went under the theme "Innovative Development Together, Sharing a Green Future," covering various topics including Thailand's industrial development and investment environment, exploring market opportunities in Southeast Asia, among others.
Wang Jiwei, deputy secretary general of CNIA, highlighted the global trend of diversified layout, regional cooperation and accelerated digital transformation in the recycling nonferrous metals industry, emphasizing the need to accurately grasp the new situation and seize new opportunities.
Wang also put forward four suggestions for the recycling nonferrous metals industry to empower the industrial chain, support the green growth of the local economy, strengthen innovation orientation, and build up industrial collaboration.
Li Xiaobo, chairman of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Thailand, noted that it is expected that Thailand's new energy vehicle sales will exceed 100,000 units in 2024, which will increase the demand for the recycling nonferrous metals industry and provide more opportunities for cooperation between China and Thailand.
In his opening speech, Vichit Yathip, president advisor of the Thai Recyclers Trade Association, reviewed the development of Thailand's recycling industry and appreciated the conference for providing a valuable platform for exchanging ideas among related enterprises from various countries and regions.
Other representatives of the Thai government and industry associations provided insights into Thailand's support for the recycling of nonferrous metals, relevant policies and industrial development trends.
Representatives from Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries shared their countries' latest policies, plans, incentives, and industrial status and challenges.
During a side event on China-Thailand recycling metals industry investment, government and enterprise representatives from both sides discussed market access strategies, industrial support policies, talent introduction, and other issues of concern, laying a good foundation for follow-up communication and coordination.■
